It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. He has done his darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

History: Born to a pair of adventurers, Gomory grew up listening to his father's many stories. He has had some formal writing training, and achieved minor success. He now spends his time doing works of charity.

History: Heir to a fortune, his parents put a great deal of effort into curing his disease. Ostracized due to the necromantic powers of his oldest brother, he and his siblings struck out on their own. In the process these unassuming Humans became a terror of the countryside.
