One night she noticed a nearby shooting star which she hiked out to see where it landed. It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. She has done her darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

History: Sold as a small child to a wizard, Oriel was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. She eventually earned her freedom when her former master disappeared. She worked as a nervous Baker and found it very stressful. She now owns her own business.

Motivation: To be a Guard again; and balancing her hectic life and new baker responsibilities is difficult

History: She was born to a wealthy landowner in a frontier town, living a normal and happy childhood. Through the years after Mary was born, her father became increasingly distant from her family, instead choosing to pursue power in the east. Mary's father didn't care for her much, and the feeling was mutual. She has dedicated herself to building a better kind of golem.
