History: Born to a pair of adventurers, Millicent grew up listening to her father's many stories. When she came of age, she joined a caravan that would eventually take her to the capital. She would practice along the way and, when she arrived, be apprenticed to a Marshal. She has set out to sabotage the competition.

Motivation: An old rival family wants her found; and doesn't want to be a marshal and was forced into it by her family

Motivation: He'd like to take his coworkers down a peg.

History: He was raised in a white middle class family as the only child. He couldn't stand his childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with his mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. Unlike his family, who was content to work in a sleepy main town, he wanted to work in the city. He has been working here for the past few years.
