History: Robert lived on a farm with his mother, near the main road leading to a nearby town. In his youth he was part of a gang. He got caught, but did not rat out his comrades and served his time in prison. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

History: Jacoba hails from a village terrorized by illithids. A gypsy cursed her at a young age, leading to her ugly appearance. She has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to illithids demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: A deep hatred of illithids; and several ex partners dislike her way of doing things and want revenge
