History: She was raised in a white middle class family as the only child. In her 10th year, her parents were killed by a brigands raid, leaving Matilda alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, she was adopted. She has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to brigands demanding more tribute than usual.
