His family became saddled with debt trying to care for his infirm father. After a long history of fighting, John and his spouse have recently divorced.

Motivation: He made a deal with a demon which lead to his current lot in life, and he's becoming increasingly nervous about it; and to pay off his debts

History: Gifted from a young age, Dean studied abroad. He always admired arcane-users and wanted to develop the talent, but never had the affinity for it. He now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.

History: Raised by wardens she was only a novice when orcs swooped upon their monastery and killed most of the order.
