History: Born to a Soapmaker, his mother struggled to pay the bills. A gifted student he started as a Soapmaker, but he got bored and became a Cartwright. Lacking all sense, he decided to go on an adventure. He picked a direction and started trekking.

Motivation: To reunite with his old friends.

History: A studious child she never was much for a social life, not because she was unlikable, but because she did not seek it out. Through the years after Egelina was born, her father became increasingly distant from her family, instead choosing to pursue power in the east. Egelina's father didn't care for her much, and the feeling was mutual. She was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching her a humbling lesson in trusting others.
