History: He was born on a small isolated farm. His parents divorced when he was young, and his mother gained full cudstody. He was regularly beaten by his mother, who blamed him for driving them apart. After a long history of fighting, Gerald and his spouse have recently divorced.

History: She comes from a rich western family. She found a children's book about a Human Paladin who fought for good and justice and never realised it was just a child's story. She modeled her life after the story, seeing herself destined a hero. She is searching for what she claims is her rightful reward.

Motivation: She desires power and/or immortality; and her name or reputation has been wronged in the past by orcs, and she desires to right it

History: Raised by wardens she was only a novice when dire rats swooped upon their monastery and killed most of the order. She was an athlete and attended two major summer competitions. She never won. She has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.
