History: He was born into a rich family. He graduated from the Naval Academy and went to see the world at the rank of Ensign. He advanced relatively quickly due to his good work ethic, understanding of the chain of command, and natural leadership ability. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Motivation: He wants nothing more than to rejoin the army; and he has money and likes to spend it

History: She was born a particularly ugly child, much to the horror of her parents. She has had some formal singing training, and achieved minor success. By chance she met her brother recently and the two have been together since.

Motivation: Find a way to reverse the transformation of her brother; and an old rival family wants her found

History: He was raised in a white middle class family as the only child. Through the years after Bernard was born, his father became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the west. Bernard's father didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.
