History: Sold as a small child to a wizard, Shane was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. At a young age both his parents were killed in an accident. His uncle (a powerful person with enemies on both sides of the law) took him in and had him trained in basic self defense. He was granted divine powers by his dying sister.

History: Raised by wardens he was only a novice when orcs swooped upon their monastery and killed most of the order. A gypsy cursed him at a young age, leading to his ugly appearance. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Personality: He is a melancholic, but persistent worker. He resents family life and as such spurns the advances of admirers. He uses his nature as a weapon; he likes to lead opponents to think him in distress.

History: He was born several months after his mother was called into army service. His parents were killed by drow in a raid when he was still a young child. The drow captured him, and made him a slave and general play-thing. He was beaten and tortured regularly, leading to his deformed appearance. Recently a tribe of drow attacked the village and all able bodies who could hold a blade were quickly armed and sent to the walls. Gerard fought at the side of some of the regions greatest heroes but was never overshadowed.
