History: Born to a Sellsword, his mother struggled to pay the bills. In his 16th year, his parents were killed by a dire rats raid, leaving Raymond alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He has been a successful dealer in antiques buying low and selling high.

Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by dire rats, and he desires to right it.

History: She comes from a rich southern family. She inherited a moderately successful company from her father. Under her leadership it has flourished, and using capital from her venture she effectively owns an entire region. She knows her nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but her.

Motivation: She is not mentally stable, and does not behave rationally; and she has money and likes to spend it
