History: The child of northern immigrants she idolized her mother. Being born in the north, she completed her medical training abroad so as to avoid the war. She returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. She was a general practitioner in the north for years, until she, through no fault of her own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal she made her way west. She routinely visits covens of witches but complains that many are fraudulent and lack true knowledge of magic.

History: He was raised in a white middle class family as the only child. He moved from fad to fad and when he turned 15 he discovered writing. Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by giants. Gerard was horrified and prayed that his father was alright. However, he heard that his father had died fighting off the giants.
