History: Sold as a small child to a necromancer, Ahlyssa was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. She eventually earned her freedom when her former master disappeared. Since her father passed away years ago, her mother had doted on her, and she came to think her herself as special and better than other people in town. A notion that was reinforced by her attractiveness, a trait in which she easily excels the other women of her town. She routinely visits covens of witches but complains that many are fraudulent and lack true knowledge of magic.

Personality: Cocky and sure of herself, she believes she is the best Carter born in the past three hundred years. She has a cruel streak; something she gained from her previous mentor. She harbors resentment against her former mentor.

History: Her history is one of pain. She was disowned by both parents and raised among the slaves her parents kept. She moved out east to avoid the crime she committed. She was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching her a humbling lesson in trusting others.

Motivation: To be a Painter again; and wants to open a new tavern

History: His history is one of pain. He was disowned by both parents and raised among the slaves his parents kept. A serious injury left his father unemployed and in need of constant care. His family became saddled with debt trying to care for his infirm father. He became a Scribe soon after.

Motivation: He is not mentally stable, and does not behave rationally; and to pay off his debts

Personality: In the realm of puns, he cannot help himself. He feels obliged to make them. He is however nostalgic and wants to reunite with his old comrades. He has some compunction and patriotism and will work for the government before all other clients.

History: He was born at the edge of vast island. His childhood dream was to be a Scribe, but he was a colossal failure. When he grew older, he became a bit more civilized, usually hanging around bars and taverns. He began work as a mercenary for hire. He would embark on any mission as long as the price was right.

Motivation: To reunite with his old friends.
