History: He was raised in a white middle class family as the only child. His family was being driven out of business by several neighboring competitors. The father sought out extralegal help and others began closing their doors. He saw this and took pride in his father's willingness to do anything to win. Being a Marshal kept his interest for a while, but then he became depressed and bored. So he turned to a secret life of crime, taking increasingly more risks and challenges.

History: Katherine lived on a farm with her father, near the main road leading to a nearby town. Like her father and her sister before her, after school she went straight into learning to become a Ruler. She then took over the family business and is one of the better Ruler for hire.

Personality: In the realm of puns, he cannot help himself. He feels obliged to make them. He takes great joy in being the best Unemployed in town.

History: From birth he was tutored by a cruel and relentless mentor. A gifted student he started as a Gardener, but he got bored and became a Unemployed. He ran away from his former home and has been making his living as a Unemployed for the past few years.

Motivation: Expand his business; and further expansion of business
