She would practice along the way and, when she arrived, be apprenticed to a Bowyer. She then took over the family business and is one of the better Bowyer for hire.

He survived everyday through hunting and stealing from passersby. He did whatever it took for him to survive. Lacking all sense, he decided to go on an adventure. He picked a direction and started trekking.
