History: He was born into a rich family. His parents died when he was young, and he was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Cory grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Cory. He has built up a small fortune and can afford his own way.

History: Emmeline hails from a village terrorized by goblins. Her parents were killed by goblins in a raid when she was still a young child. The goblins captured her, and made her a slave and general play-thing. She was beaten and tortured regularly, leading to her deformed appearance. By chance she met her sister recently and the two have been together since.
