History: Sold as a small child to a necromancer, Maynild was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. She eventually earned her freedom when her former master disappeared. Her parents died when she was young, and she was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Maynild grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Maynild. She was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

History: Her parents moved while she was still in utero so she is the first generation to be born here. At a young age both her parents were killed in an accident. Her uncle (a powerful person with enemies on both sides of the law) took her in and had her trained in basic self defense. After a long history of fighting, Joan and her spouse have recently divorced.

History: Gifted from a young age, Roland studied abroad. Over the years he perfected his riding and shooting skills. He has never given up on his poetry dream.

Personality: Cocky and sure of herself, she believes she is the best Laborer born in the past three hundred years. She takes great pride in her work and is very well organized. Her planner is full of calendar events.

History: She was born into a rich family. Like her mother and her sister before her, after school she went straight into learning to become a Laborer. Unlike her family, who was content to work in a sleepy main town, she wanted to work in the city. She has been working here for the past few years.
