History: He was born to a pair of big game hunters, but was frequently ill as a child. In his 16th year, his parents were killed by a orcs raid, leaving Hugh alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to orcs demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: He feels that his past leaves him morally obligated to help; and nothing but the best is good enough for him
