History: She was born several months after her father was called into army service. Her family was being driven out of business by several neighboring competitors. The father sought out extralegal help and others began closing their doors. She saw this and took pride in her father's willingness to do anything to win. She left for the west, certain she would find work there.

History: Katherine was born the youngest of three triplets. When money was particularly tight she was walking through alleys when she overheard a Painter hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor.
