History: Sold as a small child to a slaver, Helen was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. She eventually earned her freedom when her former master disappeared. She dropped out of school before completing her studies. She routinely visits covens of witches but complains that many are fraudulent and lack true knowledge of magic.

History: Beatrice lived on a farm with her mother, near the main road leading to a nearby town. She has had some formal dancing training, and achieved minor success. She eventually got the idea of being the protector of her homeland from reading books, and has made it her duty.
