History: Mary was born into a poor family. Growing up, she dreamt of becoming a Paladin, to bring honor to her family’s name. When she came of age, she applied for a position with her town's local guard, looking to work her way up via merit and eventually become a Paladin in service of a powerful lord somewhere. In her youth she was part of a gang. She got caught, but did not rat out her comrades and served her time in prison. She is searching for what she claims is her rightful reward.

History: Balimaar hails from a village terrorized by goblins. When money was particularly tight he was walking through alleys when he overheard a Roofer hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. He made his way to the other competitor and parlayed his knowledge into a job. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to goblins demanding more tribute than usual.
