History: She was born the only child of a wealthy merchant. A gypsy cursed her at a young age, leading to her ugly appearance. She now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.

History: She comes from a rich northern family. Through the years after Joan was born, her father became increasingly distant from her family, instead choosing to pursue power in the north. Joan's father didn't care for her much, and the feeling was mutual. She has built up a small fortune and can afford her own way.
