His mother took him hunting and taught him how to get in the mind of other creatures. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

History: She was a bastard born out of an affair, and her mother always resented and mistreated her for it out of spite. Through the years after Elysande was born, her mother became increasingly distant from her family, instead choosing to pursue power in the west. Elysande's mother didn't care for her much, and the feeling was mutual. By chance she met her brother recently and the two have been together since.
