His uncle (a powerful person with enemies on both sides of the law) took him in and had him trained in basic self defense. He left for the north, certain he would find work there.

Motivation: He wants nothing more than to rejoin the army; and he has comitted a past crime that haunts him to this day

History: She is the product a well kept family trust fund and as such has never really known need. Her father disappeared, and while she tried to raise money to find her father, she was betrayed dozens of times. She now mingles about in high society.

Motivation: To unite with her sister; and find a way to reverse the transformation of her sister
