History: She was a bastard born out of an affair, and her mother always resented and mistreated her for it out of spite. Through the years after Emma was born, her mother became increasingly distant from her family, instead choosing to pursue power in the north. Emma's mother didn't care for her much, and the feeling was mutual. She moves from town to town, unable to find a place to settle.

History: He served in the navy to pay for his family's outstanding loans. A serious injury left his mother unemployed and in need of constant care. His family became saddled with debt trying to care for his infirm mother. He has set out to sabotage the competition.

Personality: She considers herself the perfect lady. She makes a point to always show proper etiquette and frequently critiques the etiquette of others. She misses her home and complains about the freezing weather, even in summer.

History: Born the oldest of a large religious southern family, she was no stranger to responsibility. Since her mother passed away years ago, her father had doted on her, and she came to think her herself as special and better than other people in town. A notion that was reinforced by her attractiveness, a trait in which she easily excels the other women of her town. She left for the south, certain she would find work there.

Motivation: She feels the way she acts is they only way to get by in the world; and she has a rivalry with the church that dominates her actions
