History: The child of northern immigrants she idolized her father. Over the years she perfected her riding and shooting skills. She moves from town to town, unable to find a place to settle.

Motivation: To get a good night's sleep; and wants her loneliness to end

Personality: He is a melancholic, but persistent worker. He resents family life and as such spurns the advances of admirers. He always tries to repair and not replace. It was this mentality that drove him into the Roofer business.

History: Sold as a small child to a brothel owner, Gunter was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. He couldn't stand his childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with his mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. He found several beat up suits of armor and, cannibalizing spare parts, he put together a working one.

History: Oriel lived on a farm with her mother, near the main road leading to a nearby town. Her spouse left her for another, whom she beat to an almost bloody pulp. She did not win them back, but she came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. She was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Motivation: Doesn't want to be a Layabout and was forced into it by her family; and her spouse's relatives view her with great suspicion
