History: A child with a great deal of poetry talent his parents made sure he got the chance to thrive. His parents divorced when he was young, and his father gained full cudstody. He was regularly beaten by his father, who blamed him for driving them apart. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.

Personality: She is very quiet and rarely speaks above a whisper. She loves teas. She is very sensitive about her face. To blow off anger she lifts weights and to control her otherwise explosive temper she works out a lot.

History: Sold as a small child to a necromancer, Helen was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. She eventually earned her freedom when her former master disappeared. Her father was supposedly a charlatan fortune teller, but she insists her father was legitimate. She moves from town to town, unable to find a place to settle.

Motivation: She is compelled to act according to her religious beliefs.

Personality: Cocky and sure of herself, she believes she is the best Tanner born in the past three hundred years. She is used to getting what she wants. In part because she is a meticulous planner.

History: She served in the navy to pay for her family's outstanding loans. When she came of age, she joined a caravan that would eventually take her to the capital. She would practice along the way and, when she arrived, be apprenticed to a Tanner. She now owns her own business.

Motivation: Balancing her hectic life and new Tanner responsibilities is difficult.
