He modeled his life after the story, seeing himself destined a hero. Being a Butcher kept his interest for a while, but then he became depressed and bored. Gilbert's mother didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.
