History: He was born at the edge of vast mountains. In his 20th year, while out on a day-trip, he returned to find his hometown burning and destroyed. He found his mother impaled in their home, and his father beheaded. He saw the man who walked out, and charged him in a blind rage. The man easily evaded and defeated him, leaving him to live broken and terrified. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.

Personality: He is intelligent and cunning, but he will too often allow his rage to get the better of him. He will lose his cool and rely on brute force to carry the day. He takes great joy in being the best Detective in town.

History: Born in the west to a Detective, Gunter learned a great deal about his father's area of expertise. In his 15th year, his parents were killed by a gnolls raid, leaving Gunter alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Motivation: Balancing his hectic life and new Detective responsibilities is difficult.

History: She was raised in a white middle class family as the only child. She moved from fad to fad and when she turned 15 she discovered singing. She was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching her a humbling lesson in trusting others.

Motivation: To end her boredom; and she seems to be bored by most things

Personality: She likes to fabricate stories about her past exploits and how crazy she is, but in actuality she is rather bland. She loves her children and doesn't want them to worry about her. She loves to share her writing with anyone who is interested.

History: Born the oldest of a large religious northern family, she was no stranger to responsibility. When money was particularly tight she was walking through alleys when she overheard a Healer hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. She made her way to the other competitor and parlayed her knowledge into a job. When her spouse passed she lost her only source of income but claims to her daughters to still be retired.
