History: Adelard hails from a village terrorized by illithids. He moved from fad to fad and when he turned 15 he discovered writing. In his journeys he found a malevolent artifact. He wishes to return this artifact and its corrupting influence back to where it came.

Motivation: Many illithids want him driven away; and he has a rivalry with the church that dominates his actions
