He took after his mother in leading caravans. Because they were valued, his mother taught him to defend himself. When his mother died while fighting dire rats, the young Cory began to lead the lost caravan. He has been saving his money to try and buy his brother's freedom.

Motivation: To find somewhere to settle down; and several ex partners dislike his way of doing things and want revenge
