He was married off to the eldest child of a minor noble. His spouse died of illness and he inherited everything. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.

Personality: He is happy with his job as a Blacksmith. He turns his eye from what people do, preferring to live and let live. He is a bit of a xeno-phobe, disliking non-Humans.

History: Born the oldest of a large religious eastern family, he was no stranger to responsibility. At a young age he wooed the heart of his future spouse and the two had a long relationship before they wed. Some 2 years later his spouse died after the birth of his son. Heartbroken, Bertram never married again. Instead he focused his life to raising his son whom he trained as his mother had trained him before.

Motivation: Balancing his hectic life and new Blacksmith responsibilities is difficult; and he has a rivalry with the church that dominates his actions
