History: She was raised in a white middle class family as the only child. In her 16th year, her parents were killed by a dire rats raid, leaving Herleva alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, she was adopted. She remains aloof and afraid to be herself due to all the ideals others have placed upon her.

History: Emeny lived on a farm with her mother, near the main road leading to a nearby town. Being born in the south, she completed her medical training abroad so as to avoid the war. She returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. She was a general practitioner in the south for years, until she, through no fault of her own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal she made her way east. Unlike her family, who was content to work in a sleepy main town, she wanted to work in the city. She has been working here for the past few years.
