She took every job she could get her hands on, but the opportunities for Humans in the south were limited. She was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching her a humbling lesson in trusting others.

Motivation: She is a bit of a kleptomaniac; and she feels that her past leaves her morally obligated to help
