When money was particularly tight she was walking through alleys when she overheard a Performer hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. She made her way to the other competitor and parlayed her knowledge into a job. She was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Motivation: She feels threatened by others; and her name or reputation has been wronged in the past by gnolls, and she desires to right it

History: She was born to a pair of big game hunters, but was frequently ill as a child. A gypsy cursed her at a young age, leading to her ugly appearance. Recently a tribe of gnolls attacked the village and all able bodies who could hold a blade were quickly armed and sent to the walls. Joan fought at the side of some of the regions greatest heroes but was never overshadowed.

History: He was born the only child of a wealthy merchant. His father was a mechanic, and taught him how to fix just about anything. He's since become an addict/alcoholic.

Motivation: Retire the richest man in the west; and he is being blackmailed/forced/etc and this influences his actions
