Personality: She tends to agree with only herself unless someone else's opinion sounds like she can profit from it. She tries to control her temper but she can't always stop herself from what she feels what must be done. She is fiercely devoted to her father, and views her father's ex-spouse as an evil person for separating her from her legal half-sister.

History: Trained by her father for as long as she can remember she had it drilled in her head that it was her duty to serve her country. Her mother was supposedly a charlatan fortune teller, but she insists her mother was legitimate. By chance she met her sister recently and the two have been together since.

Motivation: Find a way to reverse the transformation of her sister.

Personality: He can speak with the dead, and doesn't see much difference between the living and dead. He does not trust anyone and sleeps with one eye open.

History: A powerful slaver made him what he is. He couldn't stand his childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with his mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. He hasn't been sleeping well lately.

Motivation: He is a bit of a kleptomaniac.

Personality: She is a hateful person. She taunts others and blames them for her problems. She has a minor phobia of water and hates getting wet.

History: Born to a poor family in the city she treasured whatever gifts she got. Through the years after Katherine was born, her mother became increasingly distant from her family, instead choosing to pursue power in the west. Katherine's mother didn't care for her much, and the feeling was mutual. After a long history of fighting, Katherine and her spouse have recently divorced.

Motivation: Retire the richest woman in the west; and to get a good night's sleep
