History: Charles hails from a village terrorized by giants. A gifted student he started as a Painter, but he got bored and became a Miner. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to giants demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: Money/treasure; and his name or reputation has been wronged in the past by giants, and he desires to right it
