History: From birth he was tutored by a cruel and relentless mentor. His parents died when he was young, and he was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Adelard grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Adelard. Recently he has begun working with bootleggers and crooks.

History: Sold as a small child to a necromancer, Elysande was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. She eventually earned her freedom when her former master disappeared. Her parents divorced when she was young, and her father gained full cudstody. She was regularly beaten by her father, who blamed her for driving them apart. She was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

History: Born in the north to a Baker, Roland learned a great deal about his father's area of expertise. He was a friend to animals and a trickster. In his defense of animals however he would do severe harm to people. Due to his spouse's obsession with being a Painter they were divorced and he won custody of their son. He worked as a Baker, and he later adopted a second son.

Motivation: To be a Painter again; and balancing his hectic life and new baker responsibilities is difficult

History: She was born in the west. Her father was supposedly a charlatan fortune teller, but she insists her father was legitimate. She moves from town to town, unable to find a place to settle.

Motivation: She has a rivalry with the Church that dominates her actions; and she is compelled to act according to her religious beliefs
