Feeling disconnected from the small nearby village afterwards, he decided to travel. His rounds led him into the Army with a few individuals who would become his life-long companions. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to goblins demanding more tribute than usual.

He was regularly beaten by his father, who blamed him for driving them apart. After a long history of fighting, Justin and his spouse have recently divorced.

She routinely visits covens of witches but complains that many are fraudulent and lack true knowledge of magic.
