History: He was born blind and as such lacked many opportunities for work. He has had some formal writing training, and achieved minor success. He hopes to save up enough money to one day pay a cleric to cure him.

Personality: He takes his job very seriously, in part because he fears he cannot get a new one. He has a hair trigger and will fly into rage over the tiniest perceived slights.

History: Sold as a small child to a slaver, Bernard was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. When he came of age, he joined a caravan that would eventually take him to the capital. He would practice along the way and, when he arrived, be apprenticed to a Unemployed. When he grew older, he became a bit more civilized, usually hanging around bars and taverns. He began work as a mercenary for hire. He would embark on any mission as long as the price was right.
