The mother sought out extralegal help and others began closing their doors. She saw this and took pride in her mother's willingness to do anything to win. She's also a talented Tanner, but doesn't like to broadcast it.

Motivation: She is being blackmailed/forced/etc and this influences her actions.

Being a Shoemaker kept his interest for a while, but then he became depressed and bored. So he turned to a secret life of crime, taking increasingly more risks and challenges.

Her partner is her best friend in the world. The two are very close despite being more or less each other's opposites. She takes great joy in being the best Marshal in town.

History: Her parents moved while she was still in utero so she is the first generation to be born here. Being born in the north, she completed her medical training abroad so as to avoid the war. She returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. She was a general practitioner in the north for years, until she, through no fault of her own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal she made her way west. She spent several years traveling with her friend, before both settled down to enjoy the fruits of their adventures.
