She saw this and took pride in her mother's willingness to do anything to win. She ran away from her former home and has been making her living as a Ploughman for the past few years.

Motivation: She is being blackmailed/forced/etc and this influences her actions; and balancing her hectic life and new ploughman responsibilities is difficult
