History: Sold as a small child to a slaver, Matilda was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. She eventually earned her freedom when her former master disappeared. She was part of a huge silver rush, which was taken over by a mining company. The company confiscated a lot of silver, but the shipment was lost. She has achieved small success as a Miner.

History: Heir to a fortune, his parents put a great deal of effort into curing his disease. Cursed with vampirism at a very young age, Jocelyn has worked very hard to control his curse. He now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.
