History: Joan hails from a village terrorized by brigands. Her father was supposedly a charlatan fortune teller, but she insists her father was legitimate. She eventually got the idea of being the protector of her homeland from reading books, and has made it her duty.

History: Born the oldest of a large religious northern family, she was no stranger to responsibility. Her mother had invested heavily in several trade routes and wanted her to inherit them. She was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.
