Personality: He snorts whenever he laughs or is feeling confident. He does not trust anyone and sleeps with one eye open.

History: When he was but 6 years old his parents immigrated from the north. He took every job he could get his hands on, but the opportunities for Humans in the north were limited. He moves from town to town, unable to find a place to settle.

History: Sold as a small child to a wizard, Bernard was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. He was an athlete and attended two major summer competitions. He never won. He has never given up on his singing dream.

Personality: She is always cheerful, even with a hangover, and is always willing to go through all sorts of trouble to help her friends. She considers everything a fun event and doesn't hold grudges. She is a bit of a xeno-phobe, disliking non-Humans.

History: Beatrice lived on a farm with her mother, near the main road leading to a nearby town. Beatrice was born on a far eastern desert where she grew up under the tutelage of her mother, an expert Engraver. When her spouse passed she lost her only source of income but claims to her daughters to still be retired.

Motivation: Doesn't want to be a Engraver and was forced into it by her family; and to unite with her brother
