History: She was raised by priests from a young age. She couldn't stand her childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with her mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. She eventually got the idea of being the protector of her homeland from reading books, and has made it her duty.

Motivation: She has a rivalry with the Church that dominates her actions.

History: He was born to a pair of big game hunters, but was frequently ill as a child. A freak accident while working with his Crown-heir mother left him crippled. During his travels, Richard and his party rested in a cavern that was (unknown to them) infused with powerful dark magic. Upon awakening, Richard discovered the rest of his party dead, transformed into horrible, mindless undead versions of their former selves. Richard fled the cavern, stopping for breath at a small pool, and only then realizing his own horrible transformation.
