History: From birth he was tutored by a cruel and relentless mentor. In his 14th year, his parents were killed by a drow raid, leaving Cory alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.

Personality: A grumpy guy he will invite people to lunch so he can critique them. Yet he still seems generally likeable, like a lovable grump. He is lazy and tries to find solutions quickly.

History: Sold as a small child to a slaver, Raymond was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. Through the years after Raymond was born, his father became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the west. Raymond's father didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. He tends to his Dyer job now, and dutifully fulfills any obligations he has.
