History: Heward was born into a poor family. Growing up, he dreamt of becoming a Paladin, to bring honor to his family’s name. When he came of age, he applied for a position with his town's local guard, looking to work his way up via merit and eventually become a Paladin in service of a powerful lord somewhere. His father disappeared, and while he tried to raise money to find his father, he was betrayed dozens of times. He has set out to sabotage the competition.

History: Sold as a small child to a necromancer, Jane was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. She eventually earned her freedom when her former master disappeared. She sought a place where she would be rewarded solely on the merits of her skills. This search led her directly into Sellsword work with an outfit from a few towns over. Sellsword work suited her well, and with each successful project, she earned more gold and more respect from her peers. She has gone from town to town till she finds a spot where she can set up a sustainable business.
