History: Sold as a small child to a necromancer, Miles was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. A gifted student he started as a Server, but he got bored and became a Stableman. Recently the stress of being a Stableman has made it difficult for him to sleep.

History: Avice was raised in a hard working conservative environment. She went to a religious school and was inspired by the priests there in charitable deeds. She routinely visits covens of witches but complains that many are fraudulent and lack true knowledge of magic.
