Because his mother participated in the massacre of their homeland, drow burned their ranch to the ground and forced them out. He was preparing to flee to the south, but the outbreak of war prevented him and his father from journeying south to reunite his family. He struck the Weaver job and began his own company from there.

He did not win them back, but he came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. He left for the north, certain he would find work there.
